When work happens above a door or a sidewalk, people still need to get through. A pedestrian canopy is a covered walkway built from scaffold. It keeps foot traffic moving and catches anything that falls.
We build canopies at storefronts, office entrances, hospital doors, and school walkways. The deck on top can double as a work platform or a spot to stage light materials.

Permits on public sidewalks
A canopy on private property usually just needs the owner's OK. A canopy that sits on a public sidewalk or in the street right-of-way usually needs an encroachment permit from that city. Each city in the Inland Empire runs its own process, so check with the public works or engineering department early. We can give you the layout and dimensions they ask for.

Most of our canopy jobs are at buildings that cannot close: a pharmacy, a clinic, a busy lobby. We plan the layout so customers can find the door, delivery drivers can get in, and the path stays lit.

Do I need a permit for a sidewalk canopy?
If it sits on a public sidewalk or street, most cities require an encroachment permit. On private property, you usually do not. Your city's public works department has the final word.
Can the top of the canopy be used as a work deck?
Often, yes. We rate and plank the deck for the load you plan to put on it. Tell us up front so we build it for that use.
